| Onam:
Onam is a traditional festival of Kerala. It reminds every
Keralite on those days of plenty, equality, and honesty
when King Mahabali ruled the kingdom of Kerala. Onam is
celebrated to commemorate the visit of King Mahabali to
his home land every year. This festival falls in the month
of August or September according to the moon calendar.

| Vishu
: The day, 14 April, holds special importance to
the people of Kerala since Vishu heralds the Malayalees
New Year. Vishu is the first day in the first Malayalam
month of Medam. Though it is the ninth month in the new
calendar, astrologers continue to follow the older one
and thus consider the first day of Medam to be the New
Year Day. |

Pooram : Kerala's foremost festivals -THRISSUR
POORAM, celebrated in April/May. Thrissur, the cultural
capital of the state of Kerala, is a small district located
at the centre of the state. The district has at its centre
an oval shaped open ground known as the Thekkinkadu Maiden.
